As the associate video designer, I was tasked with the technical aspects of creating this back wall recording in the style Elizabeth specified. They showed me inspiration images of silhouettes but augmented, going for an ambiguous and alarming feeling. Through this, we came up with the technique of using an opaque plastic and back lighting the wall behind the plastic (in collaboration with the lighting designer). This created crisp lines in the center and more diffused the further from the screen the actors were.
Between the two of us and the stage manager, we ran the recording session and afterwards I applied levels of masks in after effects to the footage along with color grading.
